Unemployment rates climbing...HELP!?

I am 21 years old. A new resident to the city of Pittsburgh. I have no college or anything, just basically my diploma. I am finding it terribly difficult to find a good job. Everything is temp agency...blah blah. Here today, gone tomorrow type work, and I%26#039;m getting sick of it.

To my question...what do i do to get around this? Am i just not looking hard enough , or in the wrong places? Right now, going back to school seems impossible (money wise.) And what would I even go for....(what jobs are actually in demand right now?)

well any advice would be appreciated. thanks.

Go to work for yourself if you want. you%26#039;d have to have an idea and write a business plan and do lots of research.

Or just call every number in the classifieds. if you do this on a regular basis you%26#039;ll have a job in no time.

look at it this way: set a goal of calling 100 employers through the classifieds because theres no way you%26#039;ll be turned down 100 times. you%26#039;ll at least get 10 or 20 interviews and prolly more and if you make sure to follow up on each one im sure you%26#039;ll have no prob|||Are you willing to relocate? I live in Wyoming and the unemployment rate is one of the lowest in the nation. Main industries here are coal, methane, and oil. The companies here go to states with high unemployment rates, such as Michigan, and try to find people willing to move here. If you have a pulse, you will get hired to make $26/hr at a coal mine.|||In your case, and at your age, 21, I can see you are not an accademic type of a person, otherwise, you%26#039;d have gone right from HS into a college of some sort and that type of advice to head on to college is worthless to you.

Employers that use temporary help, no matter what industry or business, are always looking for good people for their own companies. So I will elaborate on that exact point.

You need to stand out and be entirely different on those temporary jobs than anyone the employer has ever run into.

Here is a sure formula for you to get a permanent job and over time increase your pay. This will always work and I am not just saying words, I am speaking from experience of my own.

Come in early. Always be 1/2 hour early on a temporary job. At lunch time, dont go over to the burger place, save that money and carry a sandwich and sit right there on the jobsite and eat it. Then be ready to go back to work early, at least 15 minutes right after lunch. On breaks, dont even ask or take them if they are offered just stay on the job and work.

And when the final minutes of the day arrive, stay there for at least 15 to 20 minutes and complete whatever task is at hand.

And finally, here is the clincher, at days end go right up to the Boss and ask %26quot; is there anything else you want me to take care of before I leave%26quot; Do these activities, no matter how little the pay scale is.

I guarantee with these sort of actions you will soon become a valued full time employee in an organization and be earning a substantial wage because with this sort behavior as Ive outlined above, the company will soon be relying upon you for their very business to suceed.

Take a look around you when you are on a Temp assignment, those people working for these smaller companies, they are just like Ive described above because this is an absolute necessity for the companies survival that they be that way.

I am 100% certain if you follow that advice above, it will be less that 3 months and you will find yourself in a much better position with much better pay. Good Luck
