Do you think its a coincidence that areas that have high crime rates also have high unemployment rat

Or could it be that poverty, in fact, does breed crime?

Do you think its a coincidence that areas that have high crime rates also have high unemployment rates?credit counseling

There is no coincidence!

You obviously have not lived in an impoverished environment.

But the root of the problem is not poverty itself, its the lack of local, state and federal involvement in investing in these areas in the form of providing and building good schools with well qualified teachers.

I myself grew up in Washington D.C., and I can tell you that there is nothing more self demeaning than feeling like you are not educated enough to share the same room with some who you feel is more educated than you!

It breeds anger, resentment and a lack of self respect. Its the unconscious reason that so many end up on drugs and alcohol. I myself while not having much in the form of %26quot;things%26quot;, I always had a sense of self through my education. My mom worked no less than three jobs to put myself and three other children through Catholic school. And compared to the public education at the time, there was no comparison. As I got older I did attend public High School, but I was fortunate enough to be bused to the best public high school D.C. had to offer. Other high schools were like little %26#039;prisons%26#039;, with some of the gangs running the schools.

Make no mistake about this fact, my young friend....

the lawmakers, and big business know that an educated man or woman doesn%26#039;t want to work at McDonalds, or pick up someone%26#039;s trash, or clean someone%26#039;s house. So by having an area of impoverished and undereducated, creates a workforce of those who will settle for any job at all!

So no the answer is not that poverty breeds crime...no not at all! Breeding anything is a deliberate act! Crime is a by-product of poverty! People breed poverty!!!!!!

No, it is not a coincidence. Poverty breeds criminals.

Nor is it coincidence that areas with high tax rates and restrictive labor laws also have high rates of unemployment.

Not a very positive outlook for the liberal economic model.|||only a liberal sees this correlation|||Idle hands are the devil%26#039;s play things-

People are poor because they are unemployed.

People are unemployed because of :

lack of work

lack of skills

lack of education

In areas where there is a lot of crime- no one is going to spend money on creating jobs because the criminals will just destroy it..

Until people in the high crime areas start making better choices for themselves such as:

Don%26#039;t steal

don%26#039;t do dope

don%26#039;t sell dope

finish school

go back to school

stop having unprotected sex

don%26#039;t gang bang

- nothing is going to change.|||did you know that the crime spike in the mid 90%26#039;s had nothing to do with the excuses and reasons people made up, but that it happened because all of the children that would have been aborted because of financial strains, but werent because of roe v wade, were comming into the 16-18 year old range? and once they hit the 20-25 year old range, the ,crime rate sunk back to an %26quot;acceptable%26quot; level?|||Yes i share with u that in our society due to high rate of unemployment youth turns towards the minor petty crimes for his livelihood in society, when this goes unnoticed by law enforcing agencies and after sometimes these minor petty crime-rs turned into major crimes.Off-course poverty also play a role to became crime offender up to some extent but in my opinion major factor is unemployment for high crime rate in the society.|||Gosh, this question deserves much more thought, analysis and examination than a black and white answer of yes, poverty breeds crime.

In a city, yes, poverty can breed crime as it is a socio-economical problem. Yet there is evidence that inequality might be fueling the crimes (yet it is linked to poverty).

Then again, what about a country like Cuba? The people are poor but there is NO crime. In this case you can%26#039;t say poverty breeds crime. But there are plenty of examples to show the contrary.
